Pinprick vs HeyGen: plans, credits and ad production
HeyGen offers avatar generation, Video Agent script planning and video editing tools. Pinprick provides managed ad production under an agreed scope. For an ad project, compare the software and usage budget with the work your team will own, or the fee and deliverables of an outsourced production engagement.
Pinprick publishes this comparison and sells production. Sources were fetched October 22, 2026. This is a public documentation review, not a test of generated output, a checkout purchase or a campaign performance ranking.
Who owns the production work?
| Decision | HeyGen tools | Pinprick production |
|---|---|---|
| Planning and scripts | Video Agent can research, plan and rewrite scripts without using credits during planning. | Concept and script are part of the agreed production engagement; scripts are approved before production. |
| Making and editing video | Avatar generation, generated assets and AI Studio editing. Assign your team to select and review the output. | Production, editing, captions and delivery within the agreed scope, using human creative direction and AI. |
| Cost to compare | Selected subscription, generation usage and your team's review and editing work. | $0 per ad. We take a % of ad spend. Eligible production uses an agreed rate and covered spend. |
HeyGen's pricing page includes custom avatars on its Free and paid plans. Its Video Agent FAQ describes planning, script rewrites, generated images, clips and motion graphics, plus manual editing in AI Studio. Treat these as documented capabilities to evaluate against your actual brief; they do not establish the suitability of any particular output.
What do current HeyGen plans cost?
As checked October 22, these are the published monthly prices and allocations for the newer Avatar & Video credit based subscriptions. API, LiveAvatar and legacy unlimited plans have separate terms.
| Plan | Published monthly price | Monthly credits |
|---|---|---|
| Creator | $29 | 600 |
| Pro starting tier | $49 | 1,000 |
| Business first seat | $149 | 1,500 shared |
The pricing FAQ also lists Creator at $24 per month when paid annually. That is an annual billing choice, not a $24 monthly payment plan. Confirm the total due, renewal terms and your selected tier before paying. Annual credits are allocated monthly, not all at once.
Pro has higher credit tiers. Creator and Pro obtain more credits through upgrades, rather than one time credit packs. Business can buy 100 credits for $5 and add members for $20 per additional seat per month; adding seats does not increase its shared credit pool.
Account terms can differ. HeyGen's credit guide says rates, credit amounts and plan limits may vary by account creation date and region. The in-product cost shown before generation is authoritative for that generation. Legacy unlimited subscribers should check their existing terms rather than applying this table to their account.
How do credits change an ad budget?
The current credit guide lists Avatar IV Photo Look at 16 credits per minute, Avatar IV Video Look at 31, and Avatar V at 48. Custom Expressive Motion adds 40 credits per minute to Avatar IV generation. These are specific feature rates, not a universal price per finished video.
Video Agent rates differ across the documents. The current credit guide lists Standard at 80 credits per minute and Seedance at 240. The Video Agent FAQ gives approximate ranges of 60 to 80 and 180 to 240 respectively, with variation by settings, mode and duration. Use the generation confirmation quote for your actual project; we have not tested charges.
Hypothetical generation budget: six initial 30 second Avatar IV Photo Look clips at the documented 16 credits per minute use 48 credits: six × half a minute × 16. Adding Custom Expressive Motion to all six adds 120 credits, for 168 total. This excludes new assets, other tools, retries and later regeneration. It is arithmetic for the stated rates, not a quote or six accepted ads; account rates and the generation quote control.
The Video Agent FAQ says ordinary AI Studio edits such as layout, captions and timing do not consume credits on their own. An avatar scene that needs rerendering, including script, avatar or voice changes, does. Budget time to check the product, claims, voice, captions and final exports as well as generation usage.
What does Pinprick's production fee cover?
$0 per ad. We take a % of ad spend. Eligible production engagements use an agreed percentage of covered ad spend, including concept, script, production, editing, captions, delivery and paid usage rights. Eligibility, rate, covered spend and production scope are confirmed before starting.
Scripts are approved before production; revision and ongoing production terms are confirmed in the scope. Media budget, media management and wider growth services are separate unless expressly included. This is paid production, with no campaign results guarantee. The free storyboard offer below is for two ad concepts within 48 hours, not finished ad delivery.
What should you confirm before choosing?
Our editorial checklist: agree the concept, script, product appearance, claims, voice, captions, usage rights, export sizes, revision terms and delivery dates. Assign a person to approve the final assets. Compare software plus your team's work with the actual managed production proposal using those same acceptance criteria.
Is Pinprick an alternative to HeyGen for ads?
If you want to outsource ad production, Pinprick is a service to consider. HeyGen provides tools including avatar generation, Video Agent planning and AI Studio editing. Compare who will develop the brief, review the assets and deliver the final versions. This documentation comparison does not establish a quality or campaign performance winner.
Can HeyGen help write a video script?
Yes. Its Video Agent FAQ says research, planning, script rewrites and plan refinement do not consume credits. Credits are used when content generation begins. It also describes editing a copy in AI Studio. Do not assume that using HeyGen means writing every script manually.
What does HeyGen Creator cost?
The current public pricing lists Creator at $29 per month, or $24 per month when paid annually, with 600 credits allocated monthly. These are newer credit based plan terms. Account creation date and region can affect allowances and rates; check your selected billing commitment and in-product generation cost.
Do HeyGen credits equal finished ads?
No. Usage depends on the chosen engine, duration, assets and regeneration. The current credit guide and Video Agent FAQ also give different levels of rate detail. Check the quote shown before generation, then review the result against your brief. Credit capacity alone does not establish how many final ads you will accept.
What is included in Pinprick production pricing?
Eligible engagements have no separate per ad charge. You pay an agreed percentage of covered ad spend for concept, script, production, editing, captions, delivery and paid usage rights. Eligibility, rate, covered spend and production scope are confirmed before starting. Media budget, media management and wider growth services are separate unless expressly included. This is paid production.
